Countryside Fun

This past Tuesday-Thursday we took a group of 48 people from our church camping, by the Kharaa river.

Every year we look forward to our "summer program". It's a time to fellowship as a church and get to know the new people as well as have fun. We are also challenged by good preaching and worship time together in the open air.

As we played games, swam, talked (a lot!) and broke bread together, we felt refreshed and united in brotherly love. Summers in Mongolia are short and are to be enjoyed and made the most of before the next cold weather hits.

By far, the highlight of our trip was the baptisms that took place.

Sixteen people committed their lives to God in a public show of surrender to Him. One young man, of the age of 13, was so touched by the power of God that he was slain in the Spirit as he was being let down into the water. We literally had to carry him out of the water to the river's edge where he lay there sobbing, in God's presence. As you can imagine, we were all quite surprised and worried when he came up limp. We were very relieved to see that it was the hand of God at work and not something physical!

16 people were baptized. 48 people attended camp in all.

On Tuesday night, we were overtaken by a tremendous lightening and wind storm. We were all in our tents and thankfully no one was hurt, but we were all very much afraid! It was the worse storm I (Mel here) had seen in a long time and there was lightening crashing in the trees all around us. The family in the tent next to our was miraculously saved when a tree branch crashed down on their tent.

Some of the guys were running around in the rain and wind holding down the tents as the wind was carrying them away. There were 8 people in our large tent yet it felt as though it was going to be picked up and tossed by the wind.

After about 5 minutes of total confusion pandemonium, we prayed for the storm to cease. Little by little the wind died down. The lightening stopped we were left with a light drizzle that lasted well into the night.

The next morning we awoke and surveyed the damage. Several trees showed wind and lightening damage. We gathered in prayer and thanked God for His protection and mercy.

Thank you for praying for us! We came back refreshed and very blessed.

Eegii prayed to recommit her life to God!

Hearts were touched, lives were changed and relationships were bonded.

We praise God for the opportunity to once again be a part of what he is doing in Mongolia.

VIP's:
The baby in the middle and on the right were saved from abortion when their mothers chose life in spite of impossible circumstances. All 3 mothers received groceries throughout their pregnancies because they were not able to provide for themselves. Many of you gave so these women could eat.
For this, they would like to say "Thank You!".
